insecure Something about the way her mother could pick up and leave without trying too hard (or at least without appearing to try too hard) to get custody of Chloe (Mason, of course, was grown) made her feel unworthy on some level. That combined with the fact that her ability, while not terribly noticeable, does make her somewhat abnormal leads Chloe to question her worth a lot. She doesn't want to appear insecure, though, so she compensates for it through sarcasm a lot of the time.
easily distracted If you can make it through an entire conversation without Chloe asking you to repeat yourself, you're lucky. Part of it is that she's often distracted by the waves of emotion rolling off of others. Part of it is that she's probably got ADHD and simply has a short attention span and a penchant for noticing shiny things.
stubborn This one's pretty basic. Aside from being distracted easily, she's pretty well able to stick to her guns once she's made a decision. She's stubborn almost to the point of stupidity sometimes, as she rarely will accept any evidence available to prove that she's wrong.
guarded Likely because of her insecurity, she is very guarded and has a tendency to put up a facade around most people. Very rarely does anyone break through this to really get close to her. At the moment, the only person who really knows all there is to know about Chloe is her brother, Mason.
tomboyish Sometimes she does dress or act in a feminine manner, but those times are usually fairly rare. Having lost the bulk of her mother's influence during her formidable years, Chloe spent most of her time around her brother and her dad and learned to be one of the guys. She tends to be oblivious to the fact that guys might consider her as more than just a friend most of the time, and when she does crush on a guy, she tends to be clueless as to what she ought to do about it. history: Truthfully, Chloe and Mason had a rather unremarkable childhood. Having been brought up by parents with magical abilities, they weren't entirely surprised to develop their own abilities when they hit puberty. The only real upset in their young lives was their parents' divorce when Mason was 19 and Chloe was 14. Their mother promptly left them in the care of her father and moved to another town full of people that were far more normal than Mason or Chloe ever could be. Chloe loved her father, and never really minded growing up under his and Mason's care. However, without her mother around, she never learned some of the things teenage girls usually know.
Once both of the children were old enough to fend for themselves, their father retired and took to traveling, leaving Chloe to live with Mason. When his fiance left him to pursue a job opportunity and he made a couple of bad decisions that landed him in jail, Chloe was left to care for herself. Their father had left them the family home to take care of, so she didn't have to worry too much about that, but there were still bills to pay and groceries to buy, so she took up a job at the local bar as soon as she turned 21. She's currently a bartender there and couldn't be happier for her brother to return home.
