Mason was fishing. He wasn't much of a fan of fishing, but work had been slow and he made things tough for Chloe, so he figured an outing of sorts would do him good. She was tired of all his emotions, sexual frustration, sadness, and such among the top ten. It was hard to finally be out of jail, and she knew that, but it was too much too feel all the time. Things had been good for a bit as he developed a friendship with Caim, but he hadn't seen her around and could only assume he'd done something wrong. And not wanting to brew up trouble or pain for the newly orphaned woman, he kept his distance.
It was a bummer though, as he was growing rather fond of her and hated to think of her alone. Maybe she had other friends though. He could hope.
In any case, he stood on the riverbank, his pole in the water and sighed. Fishing was a dumb "sport" to him, too finicky, and rather difficult for something like him who was used to heavy power activities. But hunting seemed impractical and dangerous. He wasn't in any rush to go back to jail, so no guns, no knifes and definitely no alcohol. Though he really wished he had a beer on hand.
Whenever he caught a fish, he tossed it back, not really wanting to kill anything... and no one needed that much fish. He kept a few though, the bigger ones, in a cooler to cook for his sister.

While Lily was by the river practicing some fire bending moves she stopped and saw a young man by himself. She walked over to him and sat next to him. ''Do you want any company?'' She asked. She took off her clothes and hopped into the water. She dived under holding her breath when she saw a extra large fish. She swam to it and grabbed it. Lily came back up from under the water and threw him the fish. ''There you go.'' She said while throwing the fish to him. Lily swam around in the water boredly. She got out still with her clothes off and started practicing some fire bending. ''Do you feel uncomfortable with me?'' She asked him. She fire bended a dragon and made it swirl into a tornado of fire. Next she heated up the water to make it feel like a hot tub. She hopped back in. ''Do you want to get in?'' She asked him.

It was then that a girl appeared from nowhere, or at least, he hadn't been paying enough attention. He glanced over at her, his brain stringing together the question he had missed the beginning of. Honestly speaking, no, he didn't really want company, but he didn't own the river. Mason just shrugged in a noncommittal fashion, hoping she would maybe leave him be, or at least be quiet.
No such luck though.
Suddenly, she was naked and running at the water and Mason found himself dumbstruck. For one thing, the water was cold this time of year, for another, she most definitely wasn't of age and he felt like a pervert for even being there with her. He looked away, which resulted in him missing the fish she had hurled at him. Who caught fish with their hands? Maybe she had some water based power? Mason didn't thank her, but he put the fish into his cooler anyway.
Suddenly she was back out again, playing with fire. Her question rang true and Mason had to laugh. "Yes, you make me uncomfortable." He said honestly. She was naked, and so young, and being so strange.
Mason shook his head. "No, and even if I did want to, I can't get in there with you like that. I'm sure you're jailbait, and it wouldn't look good."

Lily put her clothes back in. She was wearing a red tank top, shorts, and flip flops. ''I'm sorry.'' She apologized. Lily learned how to hunt for fish with her hands from her father. She picked up her backpack that was on the riverbank and looked at him. ''I'm Lily. What is your name?'' She asked curiously. Lily stood there waiting for his answer. She had to leave anyway to get home, so her parents could teach her some new fire bending moves. While waiting for a answer she began practicing some fire bending. Lily calmed her breathing. She remembered her parents saying ''Always use your breath not your strength. She wanted to try something her parents had shown her the other day. She concentrated hard on the move and created a fire puppy, fire cat, fire horse, and a fire fish. Next she created a little cloud of fire.

Mason had to admit he was relieved when she got dressed again. Of course, she was still in very little clothes for this time of year. Fall got chilly around here, not that it even ever got hot in Oregon really. But given that she seemed to have some fire making/controlling ability, maybe she ran hotter than the normal person. He hardly cared, this Lucy, just seemed to be rather strange.
He sighed and replied, "Mason." Of course, if her parents talked, she'd recognize him as the almost 30 handyman who had recently been released from jail. But given her so far childish and naive behavior, he had no idea if his name would mean anything to her.
Then, she went right back to playing with fire. Most people in this town had some magical ability, but most weren't quite so upfront about it, as humans did still live here and others just never felt like sharing, just in case. "Not shy about your abilities are you?" He asked her, but it wasn't really a question. Obviously, she didn't care at all, or perhaps was some sort of show off. Teens generally were after all.

Lily looked back at him. ''Nice name. My parents make me practice alot.'' She said. Lily stopped fire bending. She had to get home or she'll get grounded. ''Sorry, I can't talk I have to get home.'' She said. Lily began walking away. She reached in her backpack and pulled out a hot coffee. 'Why does everyone think I'm a showoff?' She thought to herself. She felt like she was the youngest person in Heatherfield because everyone always treated her like a child. It made her angry that everyone thought she was childish. The only reason she fire bends alot is because her parents always make her practice, practice, and practice. She decided she would have to show everyone that she is more mature than they think she is. Lily sped up to get home. ''I'm gonna start teaching myself to fire bend to show I am more mature than everybody thinks I am. I'll go to the library later and see if there are any books about fire bending.'' She whispered to herself.

And as suddenly and randomly as she appeared, she was gone. Mason watched her go and sighed in relief. She was a strange one, that was for sure. He figured he'd probably see her around, given the town was so small. Sometimes he hated that, he couldn't say their encounter had been one to get excited over. But whatever.
He'd lost his desire for fishing though and started to pack up his stuff, his cooler of fish chilling on the banks. One thing he got in jail was solitude. He didn't seem to get that much anymore.
Mason gathered his things and started to walk home, trying to erase images of the naked, fire wielding teen from his brain. He didn't even want to be thinking about her, he had no interest or business there.
