violent Ben is considered a "hot head". At least that's the nice way of putting it. He's known for having an extremely short fuse on his temper and he's just not generally a very nice person. He's been destructive since his formative years. It really doesn't take much to set him off and get him to start a fight.
depressed He's been known to have suicidal tendencies as well as no care in the world as to whether he could hurt himself or anyone else due to the damage his powers can do. Ben has had days of lying in bed literally not moving, not sleeping for days at a time.
loner Ben is so used to being on his own, that he doesn't have any concerns about others what so ever. No one has ever been able to break through his tough exterior. He keeps to himself and tends to live on the side lines of even his own life.
intelligent He's a reader, he's probably read every book in the Heatherfield Library. He also learns quickly, by watching. Ben learned everything he knows about being an air elemental from books and from watching his own mother.

Being born into a family of elemental beings was something that Benson never expected, but seeing his parents and how they lived at such a young age taught him pretty quickly how to deal with and develop his own powers once they started at the age of ten. Benson was born to Aribella and Jaymes, his Mom was an air elemental and his father a water elemental. He still isn't sure how he ended up different than his Father, but from what he's read over the years, the powers were stronger and went farther back on his Mom's side of the family.
He still wasn't sure what happened, but one day not long after he turned thirteen, his parents disappeared. A note was left in their home that he found mentioning Heatherfield. He'd never heard them talk about it but he figured it was just the place where they met. Benson got in a lot of trouble in those middle and high school years, in and out of foster homes, in and out of juvenile detention centers for shoplifting and breaking into homes.
After he turned seventeen, he decided to pursue more information about his parents, but after reading and re-reading the letter from his parents, all he could remember from the worn words was the town of Heatherfield. So, after running away from the latest foster home he hopped a train across country and hitch-hiked the rest of the way.
Upon arriving in town, he found a place on the outskirts of town that was abandoned and made himself a little home. It was more of a shack, but it would work for now. It was free. He'd learned a few tricks along the way. He started research at the library about the town, he's made some inquiries about his parents... at this point he's at a loss as to what to do next.
