history: The Cain children grew up quite happily in Heathertfield, their magical skills manifesting at puberty to two parents also magically touched. Mason made his way through high school but never went to college, immediately becoming the handy man for the town and buying the hold workshop on the main drag. Sadly however, at 19, his parents got divorced, his mother moving out into the world of utterly normal people. Chloe and Mason go to visit their mother regularly, but they like living with their father. Until of course, he decided to retire early and travel the world.

His sweetheart at the time was a girl named Clara. They had a wonderful romance, and when he asked her to marry him, she said yes. But after years of putting off the wedding, she left for NYC to pursue a career in journalism, leaving Mason alone. He went and promptly got drunk, and ended up in a bar fight gone badly, his powers turning a simple spoon into a shiv.

Mason landed himself in jail for five years, and has only just gotten out. The town is welcoming him back, but people are a little more fearful now that they know what he's capable of.
